This distinctive estate was built in 1856 atop
Nob Hill by Aaron A. Sargent, U.S. Senator, prominent publisher
and early Nevada City settler. Sargent championed legislation
to create the Transcontinental Railroad and, with wife Ellen
initiated a bill giving women the right to vote. In 1985 the
Sargent home was lovingly restored and is now listed on the
National Register of Historic Places. |
